After waking up at all ungodly hours to thrash it out at a car boot sale (there will be another post on that!) we finally arrive at our penciled in trip to Bicester Village. My partner, cousin and I agree that Prada would be our first stop and Gucci second. As we weave our way through the crowds of people, I notice a queue to get into Prada and frown slightly. There are about 8 people in front of us with the ratio of 5 out 3 in. And not only that, the girl in front of us has just inherited two more friends, where the hell did they come from?
Once inside I quickly dart towards the women’s section to give it the run down. Now, I’m not a huge fan of Prada’s women trainer selection but thought they may surprise me today. They don’t. So off I went upstairs to join my partner and my cousin to see them trying on the Prada Runners. I look down at my cousin’s feet and he quickly asks me if I like them. Do I like them? I love them!
I turn to the Sales Assistant who is looking at us eagerly with a smile on his face. ‘Do you have those,’ I point to the grey camos my cousin has on his feet, ‘in a size 5.5?’ He chuckles and I’m not sure if it’s a good chuckle or a bad one, but I am not held in suspense for long as he replies, ‘Nah, that’s the last one.’
I look desperately at my cousin, but he simply replies with, ‘I’ll take them’. Now I think to myself, if only I had gone upstairs with them, they would have been mine. I fall back onto the seat behind me and watch as the Sales Assistant packs the trainers back into that silver box with the red Prada line running across it and sigh.
Then he says, the Sales Assistant, he says the best thing. He tells me he has a 5 in a pair of blue camos and it’s the last pair! Do I want to try them on, he says, he doesn’t have to ask me twice as I proceed to take off the Prada classics that are gracing my feet.
He returns with these…
It doesn’t take me but 2mins before I say, ‘I’ll take them’ and receive my own personal shopping number to take to the tills. And now I’m as chuffed as Larry, whoever he is!
